"Since its creation in 1985, the Laboratoire de
Chimie des Polymères Organiques (LCPO) has been focusing its academic research
in Polymer Science on the mechanisms of polymerization and macromolecular
engineering.
While these two domains still represent a huge part of our
activity, important projects are now oriented towards the design of functional
high value-added polymers and the study of their macroscopic properties for
target applications, in particular in the domains of life sciences, energy and
technology.
The understanding of these properties requires that a correlation
between the various scales of materials -from the molecular level, nano or
mesoscopic, up to the macroscopic- be established.
Based on the concepts of soft matter and
materials science, this research uses the most modern tools of
physico-chemistry available (scattering, rheology, microscopy, etc.).
Polymer
science as it is investigated at LCPO is thus at the interface of several
sciences: molecular chemistry, physics of soft matter and engineering
processes."
