The LCPO is using recombinant DNA and protein-engineering techniques to produce protein-based polymers. We possess the know-how to design DNA sequences, to perform molecular cloning, and to produce in E. coli and purify the recombinant product. Over the past years, we have particularly focused on the production of elastin-like polypeptides that are subsequently chemoselectively modified to access precision functional polymers.
